PETALING JAYA: Miss Philippines crowned Miss Tourism International 2017/2018

PETALING JAYA: It dreams come true for Jannie Loudette Alipo-on of Philippines as she was crowned as Miss Tourism International 2017/2018 last night.

The Filipino beauty beat 47 other contestants to win the title of the prestigious event.

“Thank you, Malaysia for making for making my dream come true. It has been my dream to be crowned as a queen from the age of 18,” she told the media after the event at Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa.

Beaming with joy, Alipo-on, 25, received the crown from Miss Tourism International president and owner, Tan Sri Danny Ooi.

She walked away with a scholarship worth RM60,000 from Lim KokWing University of Creative Technology, RM10,000 cash, a trophy and other prizes.

The title of Miss Tourism Metropolitan International 2017/2018 went to Maja Aleksandra Sieron of Poland and Lois Merry Tangel of Indonesia was crowned as Miss Tourism Cosmopolitan International 2017/2018.

Meanwhile, from Australia, Diana Hills was crowned as Miss Tourism Global 2017/2018, Julia Do Vale Horta of Brazil was crowned as Dreamgirl of the Year International 2017/2018 and finally, Kamolrut Tanon of Thailand was crowned as Miss South East Asia Tourism Ambassadress 2017.

Malaysia once again played host to the Miss Tourism International World final for the 20th consecutive year.

This homegrown title initiated by Ooi was held for the first time in Kuching in 1994, and now it and annual event in Malaysia with the support of Tourism Ministry and Tourism Malaysia.

The top five winners who stole the limelight of the night were given each a scholarship from Lim Kok Wing University of Creative Technology worth RM60,000 well as cash prizes and sponsored gifts from various sponsors.
