POLITICS-GE14 ELECTION: BALING, Malaysia – Zahid expects a last minute attack from the opposition

BALING: Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi expects that a large scale last minute surprise attack will be launched by the opposition in their effort to bring down Barisan Nasional (BN)  in the final lap of the campaigning period for GE14.

Ahmad Zahid said this ploy will be executed by the opposition as they were desperate to win over the hearts of the voters.

“When they cross the line, we will see plenty of slander and lies, it is not only national but also contain element of character assassination against BN leaders at the state level,” he told reporters after the ground-breaking ceremony of the Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Baling campus near here.

Early in his opening speech the caretaker Deputy Prime Minister called on the people to not believe in these attacks and to warm those who are responsible to be aware that their actions are being monitored by the authorities.

“I don’t have to mention who are they or from what organisation they come from, just wait, I am sure action will be taken by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and police.

“This is not warning, action will surely be taken, we will not compromise with anyone,” he said to a rapturous audience of mostly BN supporters wearing blue, as well as local villagers.

He also calls on the people of Baling to give their full support to the incumbent MP Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim and other candidates under the Baling parliamentary constituency, which includes Kupang, Bayu and Kuala Ketil.

He stressed that a continuity of leadership was important in Baling, and that the people would benefit from it.

“It is compulsory that people in Baling to support Azeez and his team, so you will see how Kedah prosper under the continued leadership (of BN),” he added.

Ahmad Zahid is on the campaign trail in Kedah. Earlier, he was at Sik for a meet the people sessio at Dewan Al-Hana. / Posted on 4 May 2018 – 09:11pm / Imran Hilmy / [email protected]
