The Association of Major Religious Superior in the Philippines (AMRSP) has agreed with the statement of Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle that the country is now experiencing a “crisis of truth.”

AMRSP executive secretary Rev. Fr. Angel Cortez said it is hard to distinguish which news is genuine and fake, citing that technology plays a big role in the said “crisis.”

“Yung mamamayan, yung masa kinakain na din ng teknolohiya at dahil kinakain sila ng teknolohiya wala silang ibang batayan kundi yung nababasa nila sa social media kaya ang stand ng Simbahan diyan totoo yung sinabi ng Cardinal, we are really having a “Crisis of Truth” dahil sa panahon ngayon hindi na natin alam kung sino talaga ang nagsasabi ng totoo,” said Cortez during an interview with Church-run Radio Veritas.

Cortez urged the public to sustain their faith in the Lord because it is the only way to know the truth.

Cortez, meanwhile, expressed that the Quo Warranto decision against former Chief Justice Ma. Lourdes Serreno is a clear violation of the 1987 Constitution and signals the “death of democracy.”
