2018 Asean Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup: BACOLOD CITY- Azkals move closer to semis berth after 1-1 draw vs Thailand in AFF Suzuki Cup

JOVIN Bedic struck a late equalizer as the Philippine Azkals elicited a 1-1 draw with defending champion Thailand and moved closer to a semifinal berth in the 2018 Asean Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup on Wednesday night at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.

Substitute striker Bedic launched a shot that hit the crossbar before getting out of the hands of Thai goalkeeper Chatchai Bootprom and into the net, salvaging a point for the men’s national football team.

Bedic nullified the 56th minute goal of Supachai Chaided for the visiting Thai team.

With the stalemate, the Philippines and Thailand remained tied with seven points in Group B.

The Filipino booters only need a draw with Indonesia on Sunday to book a return trip to the knockout stage.

It was the best result so far for the Azkals against the War Elephants since their goalless draw in the 2014 edition of the biennial tournament.
