The highly-anticipated match at Goodison Park on Nov 24th will be the Bluebirds’ first in two weeks as they look to follow up their 2-1 victory over Brighton with another good result.

Goalkeeper Etheridge, who played in the Philippines’ 1-0 win over Singapore on Nov 13th, travelled with the squad to Kuala Lumpur for their match against Timor-Leste, which also resulted in a win for the Azkals. During the visit, he met with Club owner Tan Sri Vincent Tan at the Berjaya Times Square hotel.

Etheridge said: “It’s always nice to see Tan Sri Vincent; he’s been to a few of my international games this season and obviously to watch Cardiff City play in the Premier League. It’s a pleasure to meet him again, especially seeing as it was in his own country this time”.

Etheridge also spoke about Cardiff City’s recent form in the English Premier League. The Bluebirds earned themselves a crucial win against Brighton and Hove Albion on Nov 10th at Cardiff City Stadium, coming from behind to win 2-1 thanks to a dramatic 90th minute winner from City defender Sol Bamba.

Etheridge had an enormous part to play in the emphatic home victory, making a brilliant aerial save from a José Izquierdo shot from afar that would have given the away side the lead late into the second half of the match.

“We needed three points on the board against Brighton, so as soon as myself and the boys are back from international duties the focus is back on the weekend against Everton,” Neil continued. “It’s going to be a tough game and we know that. Hopefully we can continue what we started just before the international break.

“I’m enjoying the campaign. My feet are firmly on the ground and I’m working hard every day trying to improve, and that’s the same for all of the boys. We’re 12 games in now and we’re looking to improve from now into the rest of the season. We’ve got a lot more to offer”.

And on the support he’s received from Cardiff City fans whilst playing internationally, Etheridge added: “It’s surreal seeing Cardiff City fans following my international progress! It’s fantastic to see all the supporters back home, especially in Cardiff City, look out for South East Asian football”.
