Asean Headline: KUCHING- No militant, criminal elements found in CityOne Megamall explosion: Police

KUCHING: Police investigations have found no militant or criminal elements relating to the explosion at the CityOne Megamall here yesterday.
Sarawak Deputy Police Commissioner Datuk Mohd Dzuraidi Ibrahim said the incident which occurred at 3.30 pm yesterday left three men dead and 44 other individuals injured.
“The case involving the three dead victims has been classified as sudden death.

“The team at the hospital has also conducted post-mortems on the deceased, and two of the victims’ reports have been completed, while one is still underway,“ he said after visiting the site of the incident here today.
Meanwhile, Kuching District Police chief ACP Ng Ah Lek said a 29-year-old Indonesian worker was also injured in the incident.
Meanwhile, Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department director Khirudin Drahman said the department had also brought in a tracking dog to ensure no more victims were left buried under the rubble at the scene.

He said a viral message saying there was a crack on the wall of the mall’s upper floor after yesterday’s gas explosion was also false.
State Department of Occupational Safety and Health director Dr Nor Halim Hasan said the agency would investigate whether the workspace safety rules and regulations were adhered to at the site. — Bernama
