The Prime Minister rejected the Information Ministry’s plan to create more digital television channels.  Speaking at the annual meeting with journalists on Friday (Jan.11), Hun Sen made clear that the creation of new TV channels is unnecessary and a waste of money.

He went on to say that the ministry should improve existing TV channel and radio station and make its news coverage better.  Better news reporting (online or through the ether) will bring more clients to its broadcasting stations/website.

Hun Sen urged all media outlets to enhance their online news with fast and accurate coverage in many languages.

And last but not least, he told the assembled journalists that in order to make a stand against fake news all media outlets must work diligently to report news accurately, and each one must counteract disinformation by calling it out in their publications/broadcasts.
