PMA ALUMNI DECLARES ERWIN TULFO PERSONA NON GRATA

BROADCAST journalist Erwin Tulfo has been declared persona non grata by the Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association, Inc. (PMAAAI) for berating Social Welfare Secretary Rolando Joselito Bautista, a retired lieutenant general, a spokesman for the group said.

Col. Noel Detoyato, the military’s public affairs chief, provided a copy of the declaration dated June 7 to reporters on Monday that also banned Tulfo from participating in PMAAAI activities.

Detoyato admitted in a statement that the PMAAAI resolution was prompted by Tulfo’s remarks against Bautista in his radio program “Tutok Tulfo” on state-run Radyo Pilipinas where he threatened to slap him and dunk his head in a toilet bowl.

The PMAAAI described Tulfo’s remarks as “libelous” because these “effectively and assiduously erode” the “faith and trust in government” of Filipinos.

Detoyato said one of the activities where Tulfo was banned fro joining was the annual PMA Alumni Homecoming at Fort del Pilar in Baguio City.

The resolution also cited Bautista as “a man of honor and known probity” and Tulfo’s words “committed the great injustice of including in his rants the military and uniformed personnel.”

“The PMAAAI General Membership shall be strongly enjoined to unequivocally abide by this resolution and shall report forthwith any breach of these conditions for immediate and corresponding administrative sanctions,” it said. DEMPSEY REYES / BY THE MANILA TIMES
