Senior citizen bags RM27.4 million of ‘angpow’ from Sports Toto
PETALING JAYA: A senior citizen from Sabah did not expect that he would receive a RM27.4 million of ‘angpow’ after winning the Toto 4D Jackpot 1 on Jan 18 by betting on a System 7 ticket.
The 77-year-old former government servant betted on the numbers 8483 and 1191, which he said were derived from his car registration number and the US’ Sept 11 incident, but did not expect that it would hit the jackpot.
He said he had been playing Sports Toto since the inception of the gaming company and would spend around RM100 on every draw.
“I have bet the pair of winning numbers for over a year, which turns out to be the biggest Chinese New Year angpow I ever received in my life,” he said.
The winnings were collected by him at the Sports Toto head office in Kuala Lumpur.
On how he would spend the prize money, the man said he has no immediate plan to neither invest nor go for a holiday.
Instead, the winnings would go to pay his elder sister’s nursing home fee and the balance would be deposited into his bank account.
The winner’s System 7 ticket, which allows him to bet seven sets of numbers, won him a whopping RM27,443,249.10 and an additional RM1,680.
