Taipei : WATCH: Duterte depicted as clown, ‘moron’ by Taiwanese animators

TAIWANESE animators have depicted President Rodrigo Duterte not as a hero as his supporters perceive him to be, but as a murderer clown that pleases superpowers like China and Russia.
In a viral video, Duterte, as a clown, was seen leading the killings of drug suspects on the streets, alluding to his administration’s bloody war on drugs.
“Duterte comes from humble beginnings as a mayor who ordered liquidation squads to kill criminals and opponents in gangland-style assaults that left about 1,000 dead,” a translation of the narration read.
“After finagling his way into the presidency, he’s taken his executions nationwide with his antidrug campaign, which has left more than 3,000 suspected drug users and dealers dead since taking over in June,” it added.
The video also poked fun on Duterte’s cursing of Pope Francis and his profanity-laced remarks against its longtime ally, the United States, and the United Nations for raising the issue of extrajudicial killings and human rights abuses amid the government’s antidrug campaign.
It also assailed Duterte’s seemingly softening stance toward China amid a maritime dispute with Beijing over the South China Sea. The President also said he was considering purchasing new arms from China and Russia.
“Duterte likes to talk tough but he carries a little stick. His mouth has been writing checks his country can’t cash. This moron thinks his allies are his enemies, and that he can trust countries like China and Russia. And now he wants their weapons. Sucking up to China will totally make them share the South China Sea,” the narration read.
The video tagged Duterte as a “wannabe” of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
“Someone needs to just take this Kim Jong Un wannabe out and soon, before he really does some irreparable damage to the Philippines. Maybe it’s time he gets a little taste of his own medicine,” it added.
As of writing, the video, which was first uploaded on the Taiwanese Animators YouTube channel, has garnered more than 31,000 views. YG/rga
