.

Visit Lao Year 2018 will launch at the official opening of the annual That Luang Grand Stupa Festival in Vientiane on October 28, it was confirmed Friday.

The opening ceremony will welcome domestic and international visitors to experience Laos as they peruse goods and services from some 35 booths.

The festival is set to take place from October 28 to November 3, Director General of the Tourism Marketing Department, Mr Soun Manivong told local media as the organising committee members visited the location and sites of booths during an inspection tour of That Luang esplanade on Friday.
Ministers of five countries including Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar and China are expected to attend the event.

Mr Soun said visitors who visit the ceremony will be touched by the excitement.
They could learn more about all the provinces of Laos including beautiful tourist attractions, exciting activities and outstanding festivals from each province at the booths featured on the That Luang esplanade in Vientiane, he said.
Meanwhile, they also will find local foods, ODOP, souvenirs, handicraft and agricultural goods from provinces nationwide to make tourists know more about the unique and notable characteristics of each province.
The booths will have maps and information about each part of Laos and details on travel times, distances and options include buses and flight options.
Some 35 booths will have staff ready to answer visitors’ questions and advise visitors on options including resorts, hotels, restaurants, tourist attractions and recommended specialties and souvenirs of each province, Mr Soun added. The 35 booths will also have their local art show and a video tour of their provinces, currently the authorities are preparing the facilities for visitors and are expected to be completed soon, he told local media.
Handbooks for foreign tourists that provide detailed information about Laos including do’s and don’ts while visiting the country including ways to conform to traditional customs, Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Prof. Dr Bosengkham Vongdara, who is also Vice Chairman of the National Committee for Visit Lao Year 2018, told a press conference for Visit Lao Year 2018 earlier this month.
