ASEAN ARTS: JAKARTA – Women of Borobudur
Jakarta. Yogyakarta-based artist Dyan Anggraini and poet-cum-stage actor Landung Simatupang collaborated in a new exhibition, titled “Perempuan [Di] Borobudur,” or Women of the Borobudur Temple, at the National Gallery of Indonesia in Cikini, Central Jakarta. The exhibition opened on Tuesday (20/02) and runs until March 5.
Dyan incorporated Lanndung’s poetry into her artwork. Through the exhibition, they interpreted portrayals of women near Central Java’s Borobudur Temple, offering a social critique on the poor condition of craftswomen who make a living around the temple.
