CHESS-JAPFA International Closed WGM Tournament: Indonesia – Woman Grandmaster Janelle Mae Frayna draws vs Indonesian foe, trails at 2nd
MANILA, Philippines – Woman Grandmaster Janelle Mae Frayna drew with Indonesian Woman International Master Dewi Ardhiani Anastasia Citra to stay a full point off the pace after the 10th and penultimate round of the JAPFA International Closed WGM tournament in Indonesia Tuesday night.
The draw kept Frayna at second with 6.5 points and a one point behind pace-setter second seed Keti Tsatsalashvili of Georgia, who racked up her fifth straight win at the expense of Indonesia’s Woman FIDE Master Baiq Vina Lestari to stay at the helm with 7.5 points.
Tsatsalashvili would need just a draw against another local bet WFM Wijayanti Retno in the final round as of posting time to clinch the title.
A loss for the Georgian wood pusher would give Frayna, who is here to gain FIDE rating points as she prepares for her second European tour next month, hope as the two will end up tied for first place and settle it on tiebreaks assuming the latter wins her game against Lestari.

Meanwhile, IM Oliver Dimakiling lost to Spain’s IM Vega Marcos Llaneza to fall from solo first to a share of second with countrymen Merben Roque and IM Haridas Pascua and Malaysia’s Chan Kim Yew after seven rounds of the 45th Selangor Open in Malaysia.
Llaneza claimed the solo lead with six points, half a point ahead of the Dimakiling-led chase pack with 5.5 points.
Roque split the point with Chan while Pascua posted his third straight win at the expense of countryman IM Emmanuel Senador./Joey Villar (philstar.com) – May 1, 2018 – 1:02pmAll photographs, news, editorials, opinions, information, data, others have been taken from the Internet ..aseanews.net | [email protected] / For comments, Email to : SPORTS STATION | [email protected] | Contributor
