Interior Minister Sar Kheng today has asked his subordinate officials to work harder by solving people’s problems after the election results showed that the ruling Cambodian People’s Party continues to lead the government.
Mr Kheng posted a message on Facebook thanking all government officials who have been working hard to provide security before and after the national election on July 29.
“All of your hard work during the fifth mandate is considered as historical success, including national security, social orders and development of both economic and social activities are ensured,” Mr Kheng said.
He said that although the CPP is continuing to lead a new government, the people’s concerns have to be addressed, especially providing security, and developing infrastructures such as road, electricity and clean water for the people.
“At this point, I hope you are ready to work with responsibility for national interests and not to get involved in nepotism, corruption and abuses of the power,” Mr Kheng said.
The National Election Committee yesterday announced the preliminary results that the CPP secured a landslide victory by garnering 4,889,113 votes (77.36 percent) of all valid ballots.
Based on its own calculations, the CPP said it secured all 125 parliamentary seats.
