The speakers will include Marc Olivier who works as the special adviser at Conyat Create. He will be speaking of food waste and climate change and Okka Phyo Maung, the co-founder and CMO of Recyglo, Myanmar’s first and only recycle-tech company, will talk about food waste in Myanmar.
If food waste is compiled to form a country, it would be the third biggest greenhouse gas emitter, after China and the United States. In addition, as the food is thrown, we are also wasting money, packaging, manpower, and water that have been used to produce, process, and transport food all along the supply chain. As the world population is estimated to increase up to 9.8 billion people in 2050, our resources will be limited and more people will starve and a solution has not been found quickly to minimise wasting of food.
During this presentation, you will discover who the biggest contributors of food waste are, what the impacts on climate change in Myanmar and around the world are, and how this problem can be tackled with innovative existing solutions to reduce, reuse and recycle food waste.
