Philippine national team bowler Merwin Tan took home the gold medal in the Boy’s Singles event of the 20th Asian Youth Tenpin Bowling Championships over in Sarawak, Malaysia on Saturday.
The 19-year-old kegler amassed a total score of 1,352 to take home the gold medal. William Clark of Australia finished second to bag the silver with a score of 1,334 while Park Sanghyeok of South Korea settled for third and the bronze with a total series of 1,326.
The victory is sweet for Tan since this will be his last Asian Youth Championship.
“I feel blessed because this is my last Asian Youth Championship,” said Tan in an exclusive interview with Manila Bulletin Sports Online.
Tan added that he is also preparing for the SEA Games set to take place later this year. Before that, however, the national team mainstay is set to participate in a couple of bowling tournaments.
