TOURISM: PHNOM PENH, Cambodia- Crowd enjoy Water Festival
Festival-goers, especially those from the provinces around Phnom Penh visited the city to enjoy the boat races.
The first day of the three-day event kicked off today in Phnom Penh where tens of thousands of revelers attended.
A Kandal province villager Thim Sovan, 24, said that he enjoyed watching boat racing and concerts.

“I always come to Phnom Penh when the Water Festival is celebrated. I will join all three days here. I am not afraid of any political situation,” Mr Sovan said.
A Prey Veng villager Om Vanny, 45, said it was her third time coming to the Water Festival.
“I came with my son to watch boat racing, fireworks and illuminated floats at night. I am happy to see the festivities. I see many police offers providing security everywhere. I do not worry about anything,” she said.
Phnom Penh governor Khuong Sreng today also visited the riverside and urged the police force to ensure security for the people and tourists.
Or Vandine, a spokesman for the Health Ministry, said that people can visit health booths at the Festival site when they felt sick.
“The Health Ministry is ready to help the people. When they have any health problems, come to our health booths,” she said./ Sen David / Khmer Times
