SINGAPORE — Two women died and four others were seriously injured after a car apparently slammed against a number of pedestrians on a side road at Lucky Plaza on Sunday afternoon (29 December).
Yahoo News Singapore understands that all six victims are Filipinas.

A number of videos and photos of the accident have been posted online.
In one video, several people can be seen trying to lift a car. A person is seen being dragged out from below the car while a number of bystanders can be heard screaming.

Another video shows what appears to be a severely damaged railing on the level above the side road.
The police were alerted at 4.58pm to an accident involving a car and six female pedestrians, aged between 37 and 56, along Orchard Road.
“Two pedestrians, aged 41 and 50, were unconscious when conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital where they later died from their injuries.
“Four pedestrians, aged 37 to 56, were conveyed conscious to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. The 64-year-old male driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. Police investigations are ongoing,” the police said in a statement.

When contacted, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it received a call at about 5pm requesting assistance at 304 Orchard Road. SCDF dispatched five ambulances.
Six casualties were sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. “Four casualties had sustained serious injuries,” the SCDF said, without mentioning the other two victims.
In response to queries from Yahoo News Singapore as to whether the driver is from Grab, a spokesperson from the company said, “We are deeply saddened to hear about the accident and are assisting the authorities in the investigation.”
