KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia- Focus on mass testing instead of MCO: Dzulkefly
PETALING JAYA: Mass testing for Covid-19 antibodies should be done instead of extending the Movement Control Order (MCO), says former Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad (pix).
Speaking to The Malaysian Insight (TMI), he said that by doing mass testing, more people will be allowed to go back to work and recover the crumbling economy.
He claimed that serological test will identify people with antibodies that protect them against the coronavirus, just like those recovered Covid-19 patients and those asymptomatic patients.
Dzulkefly pointed out that it is more practical to do serological tests as they cost only around RM20 per person.
“The most optimal way forward is to test for both — those who have the virus and those who have antibodies,“ he told TMI.
Those who possess the antibodies for Covid-19 will be identified through testing and they should be allowed to go back to work, he said. / DIANA ALIA /

MANILA- Deployment ban on health workers to be reviewed.
“A review of the temporary deployment ban abroad of medical and health professionals may be included in the agenda of the IATF meeting on Monday, April 13,” Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said yesterday. “I’m sure that the IATF will be able to resolve the issue immediately.”
.In an interview, Santiago said he strongly believes that Filipino healthcare workers will not run out of opportunities abroad in the next five years or even after the COVID-19 crisis is over.
“Maybe the ban can be implemented until May or when we flatten the curve. I believe there will be more employment opportunities abroad even after COVID-19. But for now, our country needs us,” he added. – Janvic Mateo, Sheila Crisostomo
