PUTRAJAYA: 140 recoveries, 10 new cases
PUTRAJAYA: A further 140 individuals have recovered from Covid-19 in Malaysia and were discharged today, raising the cumulative figure for recoveries to 7,873, or 92.5% of the total number of positive cases, said Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah (pix).
He said as at noon today, 10 new cases were reported, taking the total number of cases to 8,515.
“As such, the number of active cases with infectivity is 521. They have been isolated and given treatment,” he told a news conference on Covid-19 here today.
Noor Hisham said all the new cases were local transmissions, seven involving Malaysians and the rest foreigners.
For the cases involving Malaysians, four were detected in the Kuala Selangor Senior Citizens Cluster, one from a tahfiz centre screening, one from Sarawak who is a family member of case 8,453, and one from Sabah who was a close contact of the 120th death, he added.
For the cases involving foreigners, one was detected in Kuala Lumpur and is a close contact of case 8,455, one is a detainee at the Academy of Immigration Malaysia in Port Dickson who was transferred from the Bukit Jalil Immigration Detention Depot and one is a pre-surgery screening case at the Sabah Women and Children Hospital.
Noor Hisham said only four Covid-19 cases were still being treated at the Intensive Care Unit but none required ventilator support.
He said no fatalities were reported today, keeping the death toll at 121, or 1.42% of the total number of cases.
Singapore reports 247 new COVID-19 cases
SINGAPORE (CNA) – Singapore reported 247 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, including five infections in the community. This takes the total number of cases in the country to 41,216. The community cases include two Singaporeans or permanent residents and three work pass holders.

No new local COVID-19 cases in Thailand for 22nd straight day
BANGKOK (Bernama) – Thailand reported no new local coronavirus transmission for 22 consecutive days while people were urged not to lower guard against COVID-19, Thai News Agency (TNA) reported.
Deputy spokeswoman for the government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) Panprapa Yongtrakul said the country recorded no new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours and no new deaths.
Six more patients discharged from hospitals and 84 COVID-19 patients are being treated at hospitals, she said.
The total COVID-19 cases remain at 3,135 with the total death toll unchanged at 58.
The spokeswoman said globally, Covid-19 cases rose to 8.1 million and the death toll reached more than 444,000. The United States (US) had the most accumulated cases, followed by Brazil and Russia.
In Asia, India has the most infection rate with the daily confirmed cases of about 10,000 on average since the beginning of June, followed by Pakistan at 5,000 cases per day.
