MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Leni Robredo on Sunday launched an online video series to help support educators and parents in the shift to distance learning.
The initiative, called “Bayanihan e-SKWELA,” features instructional video series that will highlight insights from academic experts on the changes in the education system amid the new coronavirus disease pandemic, and will provide techniques and approaches for teaching students in different grade levels.
The videos will be released by batches on its YouTube channel, as well as on its Facebook page.
Volunteer faculty members from the University of the Philippines’ College of Education, College of Music and Integrated School will serve as subject matter experts, as well as students from the UP Special Education Area and teachers from Culiat Elementary School in Quezon City.

On her radio show on Sunday, Robredo said they were eyeing between 20 to 24 videos to be uploaded on their platforms by the end of August.
“These are instructional videos to really help teachers and parents to prepare themselves in the blended learning offered by the Department of Education,” she said.
The videos, she said, were produced through “bayanihan,” with education experts, artists, musicians and production houses coming together to work on the series.
As of writing, Bayanihan e-SKWELA has uploaded four videos, which feature celebrities Enchong Dee and Janine Gutierrez, sharing advice on helping learners in their reading activities and tips on producing video lessons for teachers.
