MANILA, Philippines — Jay Sonza gave pieces of advice for fellow broadcaster Arnold Clavio amid the Sarah Balabagan issue.
“My friend (igan) your silence is not helping you any. MAN UP. SPEAK UP OR SIMPLY VANISH,” Sonza wrote on his Facebook account.

Clavio became a trending topic on social media this week after former overseas Filipino worker (OFW) Sarah Balabagan revealed that he is the father of her first born.
The GMA news anchor, however, has remained silent on the issue as of press time. While Sarah’s revelation was trending early this week, he posted about his new hairdo in his Instagram account.

Sonza also advised Clavio to admit his mistake from the past.
“Hindi kabawasan ng pagkalalaki o pagkatao ang pag-amin ng kasalanan, pagkakamali at pagkukulang. If you can’t do this, spare your colleague at GMA from further humiliation and disrespect. Do the most honorable thing, vanish from public eye,” Sonza wrote on the comments section of his post.
In another post, Sonza posted an excerpt from the country’s child abuse law.
“FYI. Violation of RA 7610 o Child Abuse Law kapag gumawa ka ng kalapastanganan laban sa isang below 18 years old,” Jay wrote.

Although Balabagan did not mention her age when she was allegedly impregnated by Clavio, social media users speculate that she was 17 years old when it happened.

MANILA, Philippines — Veteran entertainment columnist Lolit Solis defended Kapuso broadcaster Arnold Clavio on the issue of allegedly fathering the first born of former overseas Filipino worker (OFW) Sarah Balabagan.
In her Instagram account, Lolit posted a photo of Arnold, saying that the issue is not new.
“Si Arnold Clavio naman ang nasa news Salve. Katawa dahil matagal ng issue iyan na paulit ulit na lang binubuksan pag gusto ‘buwisitin’ si Arnold,” the talent manager said.
“Isa sa pinaka mahusay at fair radio journalists natin si Arnold Clavio, iyon private life niya hindi kahit kelan naka interfere sa kanyang fair judgement at mga komentaryo,” she added.
Lolit also said that the issue is not enough to destroy the credibility of the veteran broadcaster.
“Hindi iyan isang lumang issue ang puwede sumira sa kredibilidad ng isang Arnold Clavio.Kung anuman ang tutoo, kung anuman ang gusto nila palabasin sa pagbubukas ng isang private na bagay sa buhay ng isang tao, this time sure ako papalpak ang plano nila kay Arnold Clavio,” she said.
She also advised Arnold’s critics to leave him alone.
“He is a good man, a good person doing his job, hayaan natin siya. Kaya mo iyan Arnold, ikaw pa, Idol kita noh,” she said.
Sarah recently revealed in a Facebook Live video that Arnold is the father of her first born.

MANILA, Philippines — Social media users criticized Kapuso broadcaster Arnold Clavio for allegedly impregnating former OFW Sarah Balabagan decades ago and for keeping mum on the issue.
Balabagan recently claimed in a Facebook live video that Clavio is the father of her first born.
Twitter users aired their dismay over the veteran broadcaster for what happened and for his seeming nonchalance.
“Arnold Clavio is a pedophile. Sarah Balabagan trusted him because he was her interviewer in an exclusive, he took advantage of that trust and got her pregnant while she was a minor. GMA should fire him,” a Twitter user wrote.
“Akala ko ba wala kayong kinikilingan,walang pinoprotektahan @gmanetwork bakit wala man lang kayong aksyon laban k Arnold Clavio. #JusticeforSarahBalabagan,” another social media user said.
“Has he issued any statement yet about Sarah Balabagan’s big revelation? It would be good if he provided support, and would not deny paternity. From the situation prevailing at that time, it seems Arnold Clavio took advantage of a traumatized minor,” another internet user alleged.
“Alam nyo na Kung sino Ang ina Ng anak Ni Igan na si Arn Arn,” quipped another internet user.
While Balabagan’s revelation was trending, Clavio seemed to have not been affected by the controversy as he posted food photos on his Instagram account as well as his new hairstyle.
“Hair time!!! Thank you Susi and all the staff of @bangstonyjackey,” he wrote.
Balabagan said she finally revealed her secret after 22 years because the issue resurfaced again. She assured watchers that she asked her husband’s and family’s consent first before speaking up because she respects them.
“Kaya ko ‘to ginagawa dahil after 22 years, lumabas na naman. Sabi nga nila, walang bahong hindi lalabas. Hindi naman po ako nalungkot dahil by God’s grace, masaya na ako sa buhay ko,” she said.
“Paano ‘pag wala na ako sa mundo? Tapos hindi ko ito kinorek? Baka mamaya maging multo pa ito sa anak ko.”

“Ang ama po ng panganay ko ay yes, si Arnold Clavio po,” Sarah said in a recent Facebook live video.
Sarah said she finally revealed her secret after 22 years because the issue resurfaced again. She assured watchers that she asked her husband’s and family’s consent first before speaking up because she respects them.
“Kaya ko ‘to ginagawa dahil after 22 years, lumabas na naman. Sabi nga nila, walang bahong hindi lalabas. Hindi naman po ako nalungkot dahil by God’s grace, masaya na ako sa buhay ko,” she said.
