HÀ NỘI — Two new COVID-19 cases, including one imported and one locally-transmitted, were confirmed in Việt Nam on Saturday evening as 14 more people recovered.
The total number of cases nationwide has now reached 1,040, with more than half connected to Đà Nẵng City since July 25.
Of the two new cases, one is a 20-year-old man from Ba Đồn District in Quảng Bình Province. He arrived back in Việt Nam on a repatriation flight from Germany on Thursday and was immediately quarantined with other passengers.
He tested positive the next day and is currently being treated at Bình Dương General Hospital.

The locally transmitted case is a 55-year-old man, living in Hòa Phong Commune in the Hòa Vang District of Đà Nẵng City.
He was a patient at Đà Nẵng Hospital and tested positive on August 28th.
Meanwhile, 14 more people have been given the all-clear after making a full recovery. The total number of patients to beat the virus now stands at 677.
Earlier on Saturday, the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control announced the deaths of two more patients from coronavirus-related complications. The total number of fatalities now stands at 32. — VNS

ĐÀ NẴNG — A 67-year-old woman from Đà Nẵng City has died of coronavirus-related complications, the second death in a single day.
The woman, who lived in Liên Chiểu District in the central city, had a number of underlying health issues, including kidney failure and type 2 diabetes.
She is the 32nd COVID-19-related death in Việt Nam. Earlier on Saturday a 28-year-old man with leukeamia also died.
The woman was being treated at Hoà Vang Medical Center when she lost her fight for life on Saturday morning.
The cause of death has been recorded as severe pneumonia, progressive respiratory failure caused by COVID-19, complications of septic shock and irreversible multi-organ failure. — VNS

Youngest coronavirus-related death recorded

ĐÀ NẴNG — A 28-year-old man has died of coronavirus-related complications, the youngest COVID-19 fatality in Việt Nam so far.
The death was announced Saturday by the Ministry of Health who said the patient was suffering from leukeamia. The total number of fatalities related to coronavirus now stands at 31.
The man lived in Quế Trung, Nông Sơn in central Quảng Nam Province. He died on Saturday morning at Đà Nẵng Lung Hospital where he was a patient.
The cause of death has been recorded as pneumonia caused by COVID-19, complications of septic shock and irreversible multi-organ failure in patients with acute leukeamia.
Meanwhile on Saturday morning, no new cases were recorded by the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.
Since the first case was detected back in January, there have been 1,038 people infected. Of those, 663 people have since made a full recovery. — VNS
