.
The government has welcomed a donation of more than 1,200,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine from the COVAX Facility, which will primarily be used for people who are at high risk of infection and who have not yet had third vaccinations.
.
In line with the National Deployment and Vaccination Plan, this latest shipment of AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson vaccines will first be used to provide protection to priority groups, including people over 60 years of age, those with underlying health conditions, pregnant women, and health workers.
Thereafter, the vaccines will be administered to other target groups, including those in remote and hard-to-reach areas where the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is particularly well-suited due to its single dose requirement.

Planning to travel to Singapore over the holiday season? Here’s what you need to know
SINGAPORE – Those planning to buy tickets for quarantine-free travel to Singapore will have to shelve their plans for now.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) announced on Wednesday (Dec 22) that travel restrictions will be tightened amid a surge in Omicron cases in several countries and regions.
The move will buy Singapore time to shore up its defences against the new Covid-19 variant, the ministry said.

9. THAILAND:
Thailand reports first local Omicron case
BANGKOK (CNA) – Thailand is considering reinstating mandatory quarantine for foreign visitors due to concerns over the spread of Omicron, as the health ministry reported yesterday the country’s first case of local transmission of the coronavirus variant.
The public health ministry will propose scrapping a quarantine waiver for vaccinated visitors and revert to hotel quarantine and a “sandbox” programme, which allows free movement in specific locations, Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said.
The proposal was driven by worries over the spread of Omicron, Anutin told the Inside Thailand television show, adding it will be made to the government’s COVID-19 taskforce “soon”.
The minister’s remarks come after Thailand re-opened to foreign visitors in November, ending nearly 18 months of strict entry policies that contributed to a collapse in tourism, a key industry and economic driver that drew 40 million visitors in 2019.
Thailand had detected 63 people infected with the Omicron variant so far, Anutin said, with one case of local transmission and the rest imported cases.
