A woman’s place is out there
A timely tribute to International Women’s Day today is the Women in Business research showing that the Philippines remains third in the list of countries with the highest number of women executives in mid-size companies. The report, released last week, is the result of Grant Thornton International Ltd.’s latest survey among senior leaders from 5,000 businesses across 29 economies.
.Locally, a little more push for women leaders won’t hurt. As former president of Chile, Michelle Bachelet puts it, “When one woman is a leader, it changes her. When more women are leaders, it changes politics and policies.”

On the eve of International Women’s Day, President Duterte signed a law raising the age of sexual consent from 12 to 16. This should improve the country’s efforts against statutory rape, child prostitution and online sexual exploitation of children, with girls still the biggest victims.

PINUPUTAKTI ng mga tao ang campaign rally ng mga tumatakbong presidente at bise presidente sa mga probinsiya at maski sa Metro Manila. Hindi magkamayaw sa rami ang mga taong dumalo. Halos magkapalitan na ng mga mukha habang nakatanghod sa stage at pinakikinggan ang nagsasalitang kandidato. Ang iba ay humihiyaw pa at nagpapalakpakan pa lalo na kung sumasayaw o nagti-Tik Tok ang nangangampanyang kandidato. Sumasabog ang tawanan sa campaign sorties.

Hindi mapipigilan ang mga tao na magtipon dahil sa pangangampanya ng mga pulitiko. Imposibleng mapigil ang pagdagsa. Dapat namang magpaalala ang mga pulitiko sa mga tao na sumunod sa health protocol. Pagsabihan ang supporters na mag-ingat para maiwasan ang pagdami ng kaso.
