Today’s Headline | Paper Edition: MANILA- Printing of ballots to be livestreamed
.
THE printing of ballots will be livestreamed in the wake of calls for transparency in the electoral process for the May polls.
Commission on Elections (Comelec) spokesman James Jimenez said on Friday the uninterrupted live feed can be accessed by the public at the Comelec’s website and Facebook page.
The Comelec had earlier barred representatives of political parties, election watchdogs, accredited groups and other stakeholders from observing the printing of ballots at the National Printing Office in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
The poll body explained that the restrictions were imposed by Commissioner Marlon Casquejo, chairman of the Comelec steering committee, in accordance with Covid-19 restrictions.
