Kabataan Party-list expressed their dismay with the press conference held on Easter Sunday (April 17) when Manila Mayor Isko Moreno told Vice President Leni Robredo to withdraw from the presidential race.

Moreno along with Senator Ping Lacson and ex-Defense Secretary Norberto Gonzales held a press conference on Sunday to announce their sole unity point – that none of them are backing from the 2022 national elections.

“The cellar-dwellers’ ‘show of unity’ highlights only their personal ambitions instead of a united people’s agenda towards the end of the campaign season,” the party-list said. “Their insensitive display of self-promotion looks more like a Marcos-produced theater act to portray a chaotic opposition in shambles.”

They added, “It is even more sickening to watch ’opposition’ candidates gang up on opposition frontrunner VP Leni Robredo instead of working together to assist the victims of Typhoon Agaton or to address the recent climate crisis behind it, among other pressing people’s issues.”

The party-list mentioned that the youth are more interested in votes that would support “education, land reform, decent jobs, pandemic recovery, and defeating the Marcos-Duterte tandem”, than what they describe as the three candidates’ “messy Easter presentation.”

“Youth voters sincerely advise these presidentiables to focus on the youth and people’s agenda. Withdraw your trapo (traditional politics) moves, unite for the youth and the nation’s future and prevent a Marcos-Duterte comeback,” they said.

They claimed that Robredo had “the clearest electoral platform” against dictator’s son Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.

“VP Leni presents the clearest electoral platform that contends with that of the Marcos-Duterte tandem, so it is no surprise that VP Leni will garner the most opposition votes,” they said.
