Robredo, currently trailing a distant second behind Marcos in the polls, alluded to disinformation dating back to the 2016 vice presidential race that has been peddled about her. The 57-year-old claimed that a “troll machinery” has been working to bring her down since then.
“Halimbawa na lang ‘yung election protest na binrand ako na nandaya. Ilang beses ko na siyang natalo sa Supreme Court, unanimous ang decision, 15-0, [pero] ang narrative niya dinaya pa din siya,” Robredo told reporters in Sorsogon on Friday (May 6), according to GMA News.

She added, “So parang wala nang redemption, talagang ang sinungaling sa umpisa, sinungaling din sa kahuli-hulihan. Kawawa yung mga Pilipinong napapaniwala.”
(For example the election protest that accused me of cheating. No matter how many times I won in the Supreme Court, via unanimous decision of 15-0, his narrative is still that he was cheated. So it seems like there is no redemption. A liar at the start will always be a liar. Pity the Filipinos who will be fooled into believing them.)

Robredo was responding to a query about a complaint filed by her spokesperson Ibarra Gutierrez over articles linking her to Communist Party of the Philippines founding chairman Jose Maria “Joma” Sison. She added that she has never spoken to Sison, who is based on the Netherlands.
Marcos’ camp has denied being behind the smear campaign against Robredo. Last month, Marcos’ spokesperson Vic Rodriguez accused the Vice President and her supporters of spreading “propaganda of likes, falsehood and politics of deception.”
On Tuesday, the US Filipinos for Good Governance (USFGG) launched TrollExposer.com, which identified hundreds of Facebook accounts, pages and groups which share fake news about Robredo and call her a communist sympathizer. The website was a response to Marcos’ challenge to show him “where the trolls are”.
In a video released Tuesday night, the son of the late dictator called on Filipinos to head to the polling stations next Tuesday and to guard the vote.
