ARTS | Filipino artists to launch art projects across Canada
.
.
A group of Filipino artists is taking a community arts project across Canada in time for the country’s Philippine cultural heritage month.
MigARTion community arts project will be done in partnership with organizations and communities, according to a statement released by Co.ERASGA.
.
.
Co.ERASGA is an arts organization rooted in Filipino heritage, migrant stories and racialized settlers.
“MigARTion aims to create critical and creative space where professional artists and the migrant community, create art together, in a shared environment of planning, integration and eventual execution of the project. It is engaging art practices through dancing, writing, singing, painting and acting, as a social intervention to marginalization and intercultural alienation, and a process that nurtures the everyday practice of criticality and empathy,” the statement added.
The project will be held in Ottawa, Montreal, Winnipeg, Edmonton, New Westminster and Victoria between June 3 and 25, 2023.
