HEADLINE-ASEANEWS | Prime Minister (PM) Sonexay Siphandone calls for action as businesses demand red tape be removed

 

The business community and relevant state bodies have agreed on 13 priorities that must be delivered to improve the business environment and boost trade and investment.

They identified the priorities during the 15th Lao Business Forum held in Vientiane on Tuesday, vowing to streamline the procedures needed for companies to invest in and start a business.

Led by Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, the one-day meeting agreed to make policies and measures more favourable for production and services, the Lao News Agency reported.

The agreed priorities will also help stabilise the banking and finance sector along with improving the supply of and promoting the sustainable generation of electricity.

In addition, the participating businesses and state sectors vowed to make a concerted effort to improve policies and measures that would promote tourism, as well as striving to create a workforce that would meet the needs of labour market.

Addressing the meeting, PM Sonexay called for central and local state bodies to work closely with local and foreign investors to reduce the amount of red tape hindering business operations.

The PM said the government has consistently strived to improve the business environment in order to foster the development of commerce and industry.
