The Lan-mekong China Education and Training Alliance (LCETPA) and Asin ASEAN (Chongqing) signed multiple significant cooperation agreements with both domestic and international partners during the 2024 China-ASEAN Education Exchange Week, marking a pivotal step in strengthening educational and industrial ties between China and ASEAN member states.
The opening ceremony of the 2024 China-ASEAN Education Exchange Week, jointly organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education, and the People’s Government of Guizhou Province, was held on August 21 in the Gui’an New District of Guiyang, Guizhou Province.
.
The Week attracted elites from education and labour departments, industry, universities, and related industry associations from the 10 ASEAN countries for a refreshing experience. More than 4,000 guests and representatives were invited.
The event also included over 1,000 foreign guests, to promote the signing of various cooperation agreements (memorandums).
.
Some 25 delegates from Laos, including the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, Khambay Damlath; Deputy Minister of Education and Sports Sourioudong Suandara; Ambassador of the Lao Embassy to China, Somphone Sichaleune; officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Home Affairs; and school and business leaders attended the opening ceremony.
The agreements were established under the auspices of the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry and supported by the Mekong Lancang Council of Industry and Education.
.
These collaborations, including partnerships with Guizhou Open University, Guizhou Vocational Technology College of Electronics & Information,
Guangxi Technological College of Machinery and Electricity, Wuhan City Polytechnic, and five projects initiated by Asin ASEAN (Chongqing), have all been approved as models for cooperation.

The five projects signed and witnessed by so many high-ranking officials from ASEAN have broken conventions, focusing closely on the international “integration of industry and education” as the core, “education follows output” as the fundamental, and “serving the local area” – promoting technological improvement and talent employment.
The project areas involve e-commerce, aviation, railways, electronic information, new energy vehicles, etc. The cooperation methods include industrial colleges, craftsmanship workshops, training bases, advanced workshops, and teacher and student training.
The cooperation projects were carefully prepared in the early stages, communicated and coordinated multiple times, and reached consensus.
They are highly forward-looking, targeted, and sustainable, and have received unanimous praise from representatives of ASEAN countries and government officials at all levels present.
.
After the signing of the agreements, many people came together to discuss ways to help other universities, industries, and industry associations go global together and achieve the vision of industry education peers.
Lan-mekong China Education and Training Alliance Secretary General and the President of Asin ASEAN (Chongqing), Fei Cui, was interviewed by well-known media organisations and we look forward to more relevant institutions at home and abroad joining hands with us to discuss, jointly build and share in cultural exchanges and educational cooperation between ASEAN and China.
.
The 2024 China-ASEAN Education Exchange Week highlighted “people-to-people exchanges” as its main theme.
Centered around “deepening education cooperation, promoting people-to-people exchanges, and working together for the future”, the event showcases new achievements in China-ASEAN education exchange and cooperation, further deepening the connotation of the exchange week, and promoting the “education” innovative model and “promoting production through learning and research”.
.
The week involves the sharing of experiences and achievements between ASEAN and China in areas such as higher education, vocational education, basic education, special education, and lifelong learning. The event also emphasises the exchange week’s role in supporting regional economic and social development.
