ASEANEWS-ASEAN F.M. Retreat | Sokhonn to attend ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat in Malaysia
Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, convened an internal meeting to prepare for the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM) Retreat on 18-19 January 2025 in Langkawi, Malaysia. Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The AMM Retreat Under the theme “Inclusivity and Sustainability” will discuss the follow-up to the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and Related Summits held in October 2024 in Vientiane, Lao PDR, and the priorities and deliverables of Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025.
The Ministers will also exchange views on ASEAN external relations and regional and international issues of common interest and concern.

On the sidelines of the retreat, Sokhonn is expected to have bilateral meetings with some of his ASEAN counterparts to further deepen bilateral and multilateral cooperation frameworks.
This year, Malaysia assumed the ASEAN chairmanship, marking the fifth time since the bloc’s establishment in 1967.

ASEAN is an intergovernmental organisation of ten nations, consisting of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
