Political coalition 1Sambayan on Saturday endorsed several senatorial bets and party-list groups for the May 12 midterm elections.
Howard Calleja, a lawyer and 1Sambayan convenor, posted on Facebook the names of senatorial bets that were endorsed by the coalition.
1. Former senator Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV
2. House Deputy Minority Leader France Castro
3. Labor leader Luke Espiritu
4. Labor leader Sonny Matula
5. Former Commission on Audit commissioner Heidi Mendoza
6. Dr. Willie Ong
7. Former senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan
8. Retired Marine Colonel Ariel Querubin
Meanwhile, the party-list groups it is supporting are the following:
1. Kabataan
2. Mamamayang Liberal
3. ACT Teachers
4. Magdalo
5. Akbayan
6. Bayan Muna
7. Bunyog Pagkakaisa
In a statement, the Akbayan party-list welcomed the endorsement of 1Sambayan.
“Akbayan party-list expresses its heartfelt gratitude to 1Sambayan Coalition, led by former Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonio Carpio, for endorsing Akbayan as one of the top party-lists to vote for in the upcoming 2025 midterm elections,” it said.
Akbayan said it shares 1Sambayan’s “unwavering commitment to justice and accountability, uniting us in our hope to drive transformative impact in the next elections.” —VBL, GMA Integrated News
