Episode one opens with a jolt—literally—as a group of unsuspecting climbers are startled by a body hurtling through the air toward them. What looks at first like a tragic accident quickly spirals into something far more sinister. Enter Kyle Turner (Eric Bana) and the Investigative Services Branch, called to the scene to dig deeper into what really happened on the mountainside.

At first, a park ranger brushes it off as a likely suicide. But Turner isn’t convinced. Something feels off—bloody footprints that don’t match a fall, wounds that tell a more violent story.

That’s when Park Ranger Naya Vasquez (played by Lily Santiago) steps into the picture. With her help, Turner begins to piece together a chilling narrative. The woman’s trail leads them to an isolated, decaying shed deep in the woods. Inside, they find a blood-soaked rope and signs of a desperate struggle. Forensics reveals a grim sequence: the woman was shot, fled into the wilderness, and tried to survive in the shed—only to be mauled by coyotes.

The evidence paints a brutal picture—not of a suicide, but of a woman who fought to live after someone tried to end her life. And for Turner and his team, the hunt for her killer is only just beginning.

Created by Mark L. Smith and Elle Smith, “Untamed” is a gripping Netflix project—thanks to a well-written script, authentic investigative storytelling, and a perfectly cast ensemble. I loved every moment of it! I genuinely hope this evolves into an ongoing series, maybe in the vein of HBO’s “True Detective” or “Big Sky”. The atmosphere is strong, and the potential is huge.

Bana is phenomenal as the lead special agent—his performance was both grounded and commanding. I’d love to see him reprise the role, especially after the hint about a case in a colder region.

That could open the door to exploring how crime and justice operate in harsher, more remote terrains—or even take the story international. Imagine an arc set in the Himalayas!

Whatever direction they choose, the entire cast delivered top-tier performances, and Bana, in particular, just keeps getting better in their law enforcement roles.

The cinematography wasn’t just beautiful—it felt alive, like a silent but commanding character shaping every moment of the story. The landscape itself—hauntingly majestic yet unforgiving—held the power to decide fate with a single misstep. Within this treacherous beauty, seasoned rangers and sharp-eyed investigators stand as quiet guardians of a wilderness just slightly smaller than Rhode Island. Their vigilance and expertise cast a harsh light on the current administration’s reckless dismantling of critical personnel—making the loss not just bureaucratic, but deeply human.
