Puerto Rico has been announced as the host of the next Miss Universe pageant, with the news revealed during the ongoing 74th edition in Bangkok, Thailand.

The Caribbean island, known for its vibrant culture and history in international beauty competitions, has previously produced five Miss Universe winners, making it one of the most successful countries in pageant history.

Puerto Rican beauty queen Dayanara Torres, Miss Universe 1993, expressed her excitement about the announcement, saying, “I am so incredibly excited that the Miss Universe 2026 pageant will be held in my home country.”

Half-Filipina beauty Miss Universe 2022 R’Bonney Gabriel jokingly pitched herself as a host, noting that she speaks a little Spanish.

In response, Dayanara said she would “adopt” R’Bonney, as she herself was once adopted by the Philippines.
