2022 PHILIPPINE ELECTION: DASMA CITY- Kiko Barzaga ‘interrupts’ pro-Leni father in local sortie
Elpidio Barzaga Jr.
In an unexpected, comedic episode of a family feud, Dasmariñas City councilor Kiko Barzaga, a staunch supporter of Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., outright “rudely interrupted” his father Elpidio Barzaga Jr. during the launch of his local coalition Team Dasma.

The whole slate was wearing pink in support of vice president Leni Robredo, except for Kiko Barzaga who was wearing red.
Elpidio was in the middle of talking when Kiko walked toward the platform. The son visibly took papers from his father’s pocket, read its contents, and said “Bakit Leni ‘to? Akala ko BBM tayo? (Why Leni? I thought we are for BBM?),” before chanting Bongbong Marcos’ initials to the crowd.

The father seemed to be okay with it, even smiling as the microphone was returned to him by his son.
Elpidio talked about the track record of the vice president and echoed the Robredo camp’s rallying cry by saying “Kapag siya ang naging pangulo, talagang magkakaroon tayo ng gobyernong tapat at aangat ang buhay ng lahat (If she becomes the president, we will surely have an honest government and our lives will be uplifted).”
Kiko’s father is not the only Barzaga who was in favor of Leni. His wife Jenny also supports the vice president.
Elipidio Barzaga Jr. is the president of the National Unity Party (NUP), a political party that has expressed support for Marcos Jr., just two days before the proclamation rally. He is a new addition to the few dissidents of NUP who are endorsing Robredo.
