No using women, minors in alcohol ads

The government has banned companies from using women and minors under the age of 18 to advertise alcoholic beverages.

The Ministry of Information issued the directive yesterday banning all media outlets, businesses, and promoters of alcohol products from using women and minors in alcohol advertisements.

JOHOR, MALAYSIA – A passport-free QR code system is being explored to speed up immigration clearance for land travel between Singapore and Malaysia, as part of plans for the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JSSEZ).

Other collaborative initiatives being looked at include making it easier for Singapore businesses to set up shop in Johor through a one-stop business and investment service centre in Johor to facilitate applications for approvals and licences.

Also being explored are digitised processes for cargo clearance at land checkpoints.

THAILAND: Thailand and Cambodia to start talks on the energy-rich area in the Gulf of Thailand on February 7

Thailand and Cambodia are set to hold talks on 7 February regarding a disputed energy-rich area in the Gulf of Thailand. The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister of Thailand, ParnpreeBahiddhaNukara, announced that discussions on the overlapping claim area (OCA) will be on the table during the visit of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet.

The two countries have discussed this issue, with established guidelines for further negotiations. However, the talks will focus on possible cooperation in utilizing energy resources in the OCA rather than resolving the maritime border dispute.
