BANGKOK (Bernama) – Thailand’s Prime Minister, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, marked her administration’s first 90 days in office by unveiling an ambitious vision under the campaign “2025 Empowering Thais: A Real Possibility.”

Paetongtarn reaffirmed her government’s commitment to serving the people and building a nation where citizens can thrive with dignity and prosperity.

“Our mission is to empower citizens, decentralise authority, and create a nation where everyone has the opportunity to prosper with dignity.

“Together, we will make 2025 a year of progress and hope, laying the foundation for a brighter decade ahead,” she said during a televised address on NBT Channel 11 on Thursday.

The Prime Minister outlined efforts to tackle six critical structural challenges facing the country, with water management identified as a top priority.

Initiatives include combating both flooding and drought through public-private partnerships, dredging canals, and exploring large-scale floodway projects to provide sustainable solutions.

She also emphasised on commitment to address air pollution by enforcing stricter anti-burning laws, engaging in cross-border negotiations to combat transboundary haze, and introducing the landmark Clean Air Act.

To combat drug abuse, Paetongtarn said her administration is intensifying enforcement measures and introducing stricter policies to curb the nation’s growing drug problems.

Her administration is also working to break up monopolies in key sectors such as agriculture and energy by introducing initiatives such as empowering farmers to export rice directly and reforming energy laws to lower consumer prices.

The Prime Minister further highlighted plans to formalise the informal economic sector, aiming to increase state revenue, improve safety, and regulate informal labour.

Looking ahead, Paetongtarn said Thailand aims to position itself as a regional hub for artificial intelligence (AI), backed by over THB1 trillion in foreign investments for developing data centres and technology infrastructure critical to future industries. She also announced several new initiatives for 2025 aimed at improving the quality of life for Thai citizens.
