Cambodia celebrates Independence Day
Cambodia marked the 72nd anniversary of its independence from France (November 9, 1953 – November 9, 2025) with a grand ceremony held in the capital. His Majesty Norodom Sihamoni, King of the Kingdom of Cambodia, presided over the ceremony and lit the torch on the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of National Independence Day on the morning of November 9, 2025 in Phnom Penh.
The King was joined by leaders of the Senate, the National Assembly, the Royal Government, foreign ambassadors to Cambodia, and many civil servants.
This day marks the country’s independence from French colonial rule in 1953.
