ASEAN HEADLINE–48th ASEAN SUMMIT PHILIPPINES 2026| MANILA: Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) launches ASEAN, festivals commemorative coins
MANILA: The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) yesterday presented to President Marcos coins commemorating next year’s Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit and the country’s renowned festivals.
The 10-peso ASEAN 2026 Commemorative Coin and the 12-coin series of the 100-peso Philippine Festivals Commemorative Coins will be released next year.
The P10 ASEAN 2026 and P100 Philippine festivals commemorative coins were presented by BSP Governor Eli Remolona Jr. and BSP Deputy Governor Mamerto Tangonan at a ceremony in Malacañang.
ASEAN National Organizing Council Representative Aian Caringal and Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Ana Marie Hernando also attended the event.

Ads by:The ASEAN commemorative coin contains the regional bloc’s logo that features a woven pattern, rice stalk, waves and a balangay boat. It has a QR code that leads to web pages containing information about the summit to be hosted by the Philippines next year.
The issuance of the P10 ASEAN coin seeks to raise public awareness and foster greater interest in the country’s role as the bloc’s chair and regional cooperation, the central bank said.
The coin commemorating Philippine festivals has a giant lantern representing the symbols and elements of the 12 events. One design will be launched each month to coincide with the featured festival’s celebration.
The 12 festivals featured in the coin are the Sinulog Festival in Cebu City; Tan-Ok Ni Ilocano Festival in Ilocos Norte; Kaamulan Festival in Bukidnon; Moriones Festival in Marinduque; Pahiyas Festival in Lucban, Quezon; Pintados-Kasadyaan Festival in Tacloban City; T’nalak Festival in South Cotabato; Kadayawan Festival in Davao City; Peñafrancia Festival in Naga City; MassKara Festival in Bacolod City; Higantes Festival in Angono, Rizal and the Giant Lantern Festival in San Fernando City, Pampanga.
The coin aims to promote regional pride and strengthen the nation’s cultural narrative by transforming Philippine festivals into enduring collectible symbols, according to the BSP.
