We are getting more information tonight as President Donald Trump announces what he described as an immediate trade order targeting Iran and its global partners. In a post shared on Monday on social media, President Trump said countries that continue to do business with the Islamic Republic of Iran would be hit with a 25% tariff on all trade with the United States. The announcement comes as tensions increase with Iran as the country entered its fourteenth day of large-scale protests and unrest in which hundreds of people have reportedly been killed.
.

Trump wrote, “Effective immediately, any Country doing business with the Islamic Republic of Iran will pay a Tariff of 25% on any and all business being done with the United States of America. This Order is final and conclusive. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

.

.

Total bilateral trade with Iran stood at merely $206.9 million in 2023, according to the Trade Ministry.

.

I ndonesia is not overly concerned about potential new tariffs announced by United States President Donald Trump targeting countries that trade with Iran, the government has said, citing the relatively small size of bilateral trade, as Jakarta focuses on wrapping up a trade deal with Washington.

.

Trump said in a social media post on Monday that Washington would immediately impose a 25 percent tariff on all goods and services imported from any country that “does business” with Iran, stepping up pressure on Tehran amid weeks of deadly protests.

.

“Trade transactions with Iran are not large.
