./MANILA, Philippines — It was a case of reality imitating art, at least in the eyes of the social media team behind Disney+ Philippines.

The local division of the streaming platform went viral for posts comparing scenes from the “Daredevil: Born Again” Season 2 finale to events that occurred at the Senate on Monday, May 11.

Earlier this week, Sen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa made his first appearance at the upper chamber in six months, but his return was far from smooth.

Senate CCTV footage showed Dela Rosa, clad in a Barong Tagalog, running through the building to evade agents from the National Bureau of Investigation who were supposedly trying to arrest him.

The NBI agents were reportedly acting on an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court, which the tribunal later confirmed was authentic.

The Senate chase was a hot topic for the past two days, particularly as it involved a detour up a fire exit where Dela Rosa appeared to slip on some steps.

‘Daredevil’ comparisons

Disney+ Philippines jumped on the trend with a composite photo featuring “Daredevil: Born Again” scenes that alluded to the recent Senate developments.

One image was of CCTV footage taken above stairs, just before Benjamin Poindexter’s Bullseye, played by Wilson Bethel, hurls knives with pinpoint precision.

The two other images showed villain Wilson Fisk, played by Vincent D’Onofrio. Fisk, also known as Kingpin and currently the mayor of New York City in the show, is seen wearing a white suit inside a courthouse.

“This week started like a Season finale,” the streaming platform captioned its posts while inviting people to watch “Daredevil: Born Again.”

Many social media users laughed at the comparisons between Fisk and Dela Rosa, both burly, bald men in pristine outfits during their respective scenes, and jokingly called for the Disney+ Philippines social media team to be given a raise.

Some also pointed out that by the season’s end, Fisk surrendered and resigned from office, while Dela Rosa remains in protective custody.

Discussions over Dela Rosa’s situation continue while “Daredevil: Born Again” continues production of its third season.

Disney+ Philippines also recently released the special “The Punisher: One Last Kill,” which is set around the events of the recently concluded second season.
