Ministry of Tourism and private sector representatives Tuesday discussed strategic priorities for sustainable tourism investment and regional cooperation under the ASEAN Tourism Development Framework for 2026-2030.
The roundtable discussion on “ASEAN Sustainable and Resilient Tourism Investment Outlook 2030,” organised by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), was presided over by Minister of Tourism Huot Hak and Yasmin Siddiqi, Country Director of ADB in Cambodia.
The meeting was attended by Luu Meng, Co-Chair of the Government-Private Sector Forum (G-PSF) Working Group ‘B’, along with officials from the ministry, delegates of the ADB, and representatives from tourism-related private sector institutions and associations.
.

The roundtable discussion was aimed at supporting discussions on strategic tourism investment priorities under the READS framework, identifying investment opportunities and constraints, and gathering input on favourable conditions needed to mobilise sustainable, resilient, and inclusive tourism investment across ASEAN.

In the context of ASEAN tourism cooperation, READS generally refers to key priorities for tourism development, focusing on areas such as resilience, environmental sustainability, accessibility, digital transformation and sustainability or smart tourism development.
Speaking during the discussion, Hak said Cambodia possesses strong tourism potential across cultural, historical, natural, and eco-tourism sectors that align with current global tourism trends.
“Cambodia is continuing to improve infrastructure connectivity and transportation networks to provide greater convenience and save travel time for both investors and international tourists,” he said.
Hak also highlighted the government’s “Visit Cambodia in the Green Season” campaign, which promotes travel during the rainy season and showcases Cambodia’s natural beauty under six key tourism experiences: “See, Stay, Taste, Visit, Try, and Buy.”
The campaign is designed to provide visitors with new travel experiences while strengthening Cambodia’s position as a year-round tourism destination.
“Investment in the tourism sector not only contributes to economic growth but also plays a key role in job creation, improving livelihoods, and supporting sustainable local community development in line with Cambodia’s and ASEAN’s tourism development vision for 2030,” Hak emphasised.

According to the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC), the discussion formed part of regional consultations under the ASEAN Tourism Development Plan 2026-2030 aimed at identifying tourism investment priorities, financing opportunities, and supportive policies for sustainable and resilient tourism development across the ASEAN region.
The CCC stated that the “ASEAN Sustainable and Resilient Tourism Investment Vision” is aligned with the ASEAN Tourism Strategic Plan (ATSP) 2026-2030, which outlines clear strategic directions and strong implementation mechanisms to promote sustainable tourism investment throughout the region.
It is worth noting that the ASEAN Tourism Sectoral Plan 2026-2030 was officially launched in late January during the ASEAN Tourism Conference held alongside the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2026.
The conference was attended by ASEAN Tourism Ministers, representatives of Tourism Ministers from the Plus Three countries (China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea), India and Russia, representatives of the ASEAN Secretariat, ADB, prominent international media, as well as numerous distinguished international guests, in a warm and cordial atmosphere in Cebu, Philippines.
