Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, participated in the Extended Informal Consultation on developments in Myanmar via videoconference yesterday.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the meeting reiterated the importance of constructive dialogue, the cessation of violence, and the creation of a conducive environment for inclusive dialogue among all parties concerned in Myanmar.

Cambodia hails Myanmar amnesty as ‘positive step’
The statement of the Cambodia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. MFAICCambodia has welcomed Myanmar’s recent mass release of prisoners, describing the move as a significant step towards national reconciliation and regional peace.
In a statement released yesterday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC) lauded the presidential amnesty granted on April 17 to more than 4,000 individuals to mark the Myanmar New Year (Thingyan).

Notable developments included the release of former President U Win Myint and the commutation of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s sentence.
The ministry characterised the gesture as a milestone in line with ASEAN’s expectations. “This move helps create a more conducive environment for dialogue,” the statement noted, adding that Cambodia looks forward to further confidence-building measures to advance the cause of peace.
Phnom Penh remains encouraged by the developments and urges all stakeholders in Myanmar to work towards a nationwide ceasefire. The MFAIC reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to the ASEAN Charter and the Five-Point Consensus (5PC), a roadmap to restore normality through an inclusive, Myanmar-led political process.
