Synopsis: Cambodia will host Group G of the AFC U20 Asian Cup Qualifiers later this year, where they face Japan, Yemen and Kuwait in a demanding but exciting home campaign.
Cambodia’s national U20 football team is set for a major challenge after being drawn alongside Japan, Yemen and Kuwait in Group G of the AFC U20 Asian Cup Qualifiers.The group stage will take place from August 31 to September 6, with Cambodia hosting all matches on home soil. The draw means local fans will have a rare chance to watch strong Asian sides compete in Phnom Penh, adding extra excitement to the build-up.

Japan stand out as the group favourites, ranked 18th in the world, while Cambodia sit at 177th. Yemen are placed 149th and Kuwait are ranked 134th, highlighting the size of the task facing the hosts.
The qualification format adds further intensity. A total of 32 teams are divided into eight groups of four. The group winners and the seven best second placed teams will advance to the 43rd edition of the AFC U20 Asian Cup.

At the other end of the table, the bottom team in each group will drop into the Development Phase of the next edition of the competition.
In the Development Phase, 12 teams are split into three groups. The top sides from that stage will then move back into the qualification pathway for future tournaments, ensuring a continuous cycle of development across Asia.
