MANILA, Philippines — In response to netizens’ queries on why Filipino “multimedia queen” Kris Aquino is not in the first trailer of the Warner Bros. film “Crazy Rich Asians,” the actress and TV host has explained her side on social media.
On April 26, two days after Warner Bros. Pictures released the first trailer with no Kris in sight, Kris posted on her Instagram account what she called as her own “#teaser” to show that she is still in the movie.
“Lulubusin ko na po ang posts. Feeling ko madaling araw na ng Friday ang gising ko- in time for my next shooting. #CrazyRichAsians #teaser #imeverywoman,” she said in the caption.
With Whitney Houston’s “I’m Every Woman” playing on the background, the video showed Kris’s picture alongside others in the cast like lead stars Constance Wu, Henry Golding and Michelle Yeoh, alongside Filipino-born comedian Nico Santos, who is in the movie’s first trailer.

A certain @jczenemij16 commented on Kris’s post, saying: “Napanood ko trailer, pero di kita nakita? Extra ka lang ba dun?I thought you’re one of the main characters. :)”

Kris then replied to @jczenemij16, saying: “As recently as Friday i said i’m there for 5 minutes BUT i do portray a (royalty)… Dude, i’m part of a Warner Brothers history making movie because it’s the 1st non period, all Asian, big Hollywood multi million $ production. #proudtorepresentphilippines.”
A netizen then backed Kris’s claim, saying that Kris’s exposure in the movie might be short, but her role would be very important.
“She portrays the queen that is very remarkable in the book of kevin kwan. You will never forget her. she is not just an extra, she plays an imp. role, without her, the story will not be complete. :),” netizen @jv0902 enthused.
Based on the acclaimed worldwide bestseller by Kevin Kwan, “Crazy Rich Asians” follows native New Yorker Rachel Chu (Constance Wu) as she accompanies her longtime boyfriend, Nick Young (Henry Golding), to his best friend’s wedding in Singapore.
