Indosat Ooredoo IDByte Kicks Off in Jakarta

Jakarta. Indosat Ooredoo IDByte, a biennial event that seeks to gather digital industry players at a seminar, conference, technology exhibition and award giving ceremony, was officially opened on Tuesday (26/09).
The event, considered to be the biggest digital event in the country, is themed “Gen C,” in reference to the participants of consumer culture, who care deeply about connection, community, creation and curation. Gen C does not refer to an age group, it rather describes an attitude, mindset and characteristic of the new consumer group.
The event was initiated by Bubu.com, a digital advertising and web development company, and sponsored by mobile phone operator Indosat Ooredoo, a subsidiary of Ooredoo Group.
Jakarta Deputy Governor-elect Sandiaga Uno, accompanied by Indosat Ooredoo chief executive Alexander Rusli and Bubu.com chief Shinta W. Dhanuwardoyo, opened the event, which kicked off with a seminar at @America and “Tech Giant” exhibition at Pacific Place in the Sudirman Central Business District, South Jakarta.
In his opening speech, Sandiaga called on millennials not to be afraid of becoming entrepreneurs.
“It is a lot easier now to present an idea, so it is the right time to start a business. Starting a business starts with a good idea,” he said.
International digital industry experts participated in the seminar, while local and global tech players such as Tokopedia, Blibli, Traveloka, GO-Jek, Microsoft, Youtube and Instagram joined the exhibition.
The IDByte 2017 will feature Bubu Conference on Thursday, which is expected to be opened by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati.
“Our support for IDByte proves our commitment to developing Indonesia as a digital nation. At 50 years of age, Indosat Ooredoo continuously pushes for digital and technology-based innovations,” Alexander said in a statement.
The event will conclude with the Bubu Awards ceremony.
