Brunei Darussalam’s under-18 national team fell to a 4-1 defeat to the Philippines in their final Group ‘A’ match of the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Under-18 Youth Championship at the Go Dau Stadium in Thu Dau Mot, Vietnam last night.
Brunei Darussalam under-18 player Aisan Aizuddin bin Abdullah Aiman scored his third goal in five appearances in the AFF meet during the loss.
Carlo Guanzon Dorin inspired the young Azkals to a comfortable win with a hat-trick after Pocholo Bugas opened the scoring in the 18th minute.
Brunei fell to a 2-0 defeat against group runners-up Myanmar before the match against the Philippines.

The young Wasps began their campaign with a 7-2 defeat to Timor Leste before losing narrowly to Laos 1-0 and 6-1 to group winners Indonesia.
Indonesia were confirmed as group winners after they drew 1-1 with Myanmar in a top-of-the-table clash at the Thong Nhat Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City. Both teams have already sealed their passage to the knockout stages and the final group match was to determine the top two teams.
Indonesia under-18 head coach Fakhri Husaini used his trusted 4-3-3 formation with key players Bagus Kahfi, Beckham Putra Nugraha and Rendy Juliansyah all starting the match.
Myanmar frustrated the young Garuda Nusantara as they repeatedly repelled their attacks.
Indonesia’s star player Bagus Kahfi and his teammates showed variations in their attempts in the second half, yet Myanmar remained intact.
Despite their dominance, the young Asian Lions raced into the lead after Hein Htet Aung found the net in the 58th minute.

As it stood, Myanmar were leading the group but Indonesia refused to bow down. Indonesia slowly built their attacks to break the Myanmar defence.
Indonesia’s continued threat paid off as Rizky Ridho Ramadhani equalised in the 67th minute. The young Garuda Nusantara regained their top spot with the solitary point as the trio of Malaysia, Australia and Vietnam lie in wait in the semi-final.
Elsewhere, Laos thumped Timor Leste 4-0 to leapfrog into third place of the group.
Chony Wenpaserth and Thanouthong Kietnalonglop scored for the young Laotians in the first half before strikes from Phouvieng Phounsavath and Boumy Pinkeo added gloss to the win.
