MANILA Philippines: Indonesian woman nabbed with drugs from Cambodia

MANILA, Philippines (AP) – Philippine authorities said they arrested an Indonesian woman who was carrying USD1 million worth of illegal drugs in her carry-on bag from her flight from Cambodia on Monday, amid a crackdown on drug smuggling attempts.

Indonesian caught with P54-M worth of shabu at NAIA
The Bureau of Customs (BoC) intercepted P54 million worth of shabu from an Indonesian on Monday at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3.
Customs authorities said the passenger, Agnes Alexandra, arrived at 1 a.m. on board Cebu Pacific flight 5J528 from Siem Reap, Cambodia.
Port of NAIA Collector Mimel Talusan said Alexandra denied owning the luggage that contained the illegal drugs that weighed 8 kilos.

Alexandra said a person she met in Cambodia asked her to bring the luggage to Manila.
On Sept. 28, 2019, the Customs bureau intercepted a shipment of shabu that also came from Siem Reap, Cambodia, prompting the bureau to place all flights from the so-called Golden Triangle (Laos, Myanmar and Thailand) and neighboring countries under red alert. BENJAMIN L. VERGARA
