Here are highlights from today’s press conference at the Ministry of Health (MoH) with the Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Jaafar.

The Minister of Health said no new COVID-19 cases were recorded in Brunei today, maintaining the national tally to 141.

Meanwhile, 1 more patient has been discharged, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 132. There are currently 8 active cases being treated at the National Isolation Centre (NIC) in Tutong.

  • Two patients remain in critical condition, with one of them requiring ventilator support. The rest of the patients are in a stable condition.
  • As of today, 131 individuals are undergoing quarantine according to the Infectious Diseases Act (Chapter 204) and a total of 2,575 have completed the quarantine period and are in good health.
  • Since the emergence of COVID-19 in early January 2020, a total of 15,300 laboratory tests for COVID-19 have been conducted.

Source of Case 139 infection still under investigation

The Minister of Health said they are still conducting further investigations to identify the source of the infection and to identify the contacts for Cases 139, 140 and 141.

So far 114 contacts of the cases have undergone testing, of which 103 have tested negative. “As stated at the press conference yesterday, investigation of the case showed that all three cases were infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus in March 2020 and at present the patients do not have any signs of infection,” the minister added.
